FAQ

Hello reader! Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions the staff are most commonly queried on. If you have a question that’s NOT answered here, then email us and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Asking questions that are included in this F.A.Q will be ignored! Read on…
Q: What’s this website about? A: WeNeedAHobby.com is because we simply needed a hobby. We will write reviews for the things that interest us and that we think we will like. You might not agree with what we have to say about a certain movie or cd or whatever but it’s our opinion, not yours. You can always comment about it. But keep in mind. We do own the site, not you.
Q: Who runs WeNeedAHobby? A: WeNeedAHobby is ran by two guys that needed something to occupy their time. We also have a couple people that will be coming in and contributing to some of our gray areas like comics and video games.
Q: How do you guys find this stuff? A: Well we each have our own way I guess. We all know where about online it can be had and, no, we are not going to tell you. Unless we post a torrent link that is.
Q: Can i get in trouble with the authority’s for visiting WeNeedAHobby? A: WeNeedAHobby is purely informative site, we do not host any illegal content. WeNeedAHobby does not host the .torrent files that can be found in our posts. Nor do we upload these ourselves. Even if some Copyright lobbies think that downloading .torrent file constitutes copyright infringement we know better, the .torrent files you can download from the links on WeNeedAHobby are nothing more than metadata and checksums. The data that you receive from downloading a .torrent file is found in the individuals computer and not on the WeNeedAHobby server. Not a single byte of copyrighted data is stored on the WeNeedAHobby server. So to that end there is no conceivable way that you can get in trouble for visiting WeNeedAHobby. You wouldn’t close down a news channel because they informed on murders, robbery’s etc would you?
Q: Sometimes when I try to connect to WeNeedAHobby the error message ‘could not connect to database’ or similar error message appears. What’s going on? A: An error message like this means that our server is overloaded and cannot handle anymore requests. This happens at peak hours as the number of visitors increases. Wait a few minutes and try again.
Q: One of your editors said that a particular movie/game/app was great/crap and it isn’t! Can’t you get them to change the post? A. Editor’s comments on whether a movie/game/app etc is good or not is simply their opinion on it. Calling an editor and idiot or a moron or whatever because you think a particular movie/game/app etc is great and they didn’t is uncalled for and that comment will be deleted along with the comment poster being banned if they do it multiple times. We are not saying that you cannot disagree with what an editor has said but please do so in a polite and logical way. If you strongly feel that an editor has written something really bad then email us at info@weneedahobby.com and we will evaluate the post.
Q: *Why are so many of the posts on WeNeedAHobby missing a torrent link? What’s the point in posting an article without a torrent? A. This is a news website ONLY. We don’t host any of the torrents. Nor do we upload the torrents. When torrent links are published in a post they are put there as a bonus. It does not take too much more effort to copy and paste the release name into your favorite bittorrent tracker/indexer/searcher etc now does it? If the post says something along the lines of ‘coming soon’ or something similar it means that NTi hasn’t been updated with that particular torrent because we are too fast.
Q: Why do you guys always link to torrents on NewTorrents.info? A. NewTorrent.info (NTi) is a torrent indexing site and it is a great one. They are constantly ranked highest in the lowest amount of fake torrent files hosted and if we are giving you links, we want to make sure they are the real deal!
Q: What are the rules for posting comments? A. Comments are a tricky business; some users want us to delete the offensive/offtopic/racist etc comments which is understandable, but others, however, don’t want us to delete these comments as they consider it a form of censorship. After careful deliberation, we have decided that even though we consider censorship to be bad thing, there are always going to be people who will abuse the comment system. Therefore we have decided to introduce moderators who will check all comments for content such as racism/sexism/homophobia/bigotry and anything else we feel is inappropriate Swearing and offtopic comments are not something we encourage but they are fine as long as it’s not over the top. As a guideline, do not ask for ‘nzb’ files, and other things that you can find by googling, using binsearch.info, or torrent search engines. The staff’s decision on comment related acts are final, don’t email us whining about how you were treated unfairly and above all don’t post another comment saying ‘why did you delete my comment?!’ or something, this will earn you a swift ban. You can however mail us if you feel we have missed a comment that needs to be deleted. Email us and we will evaluate the comment in question. Posting spam will be deleted as well and the poster banned if done time and time again.

Q: Does WNAH have a forum? A. No.
Q: Are there any plans to add forums to WeNeedAHobby? A. Dedicated forums for WeNeedAHobby are not planned.
Q: Can I become a staff member? A. We will publish a post when we are actively looking for new staff, however we will always look at someone’s request to be a staff member at any time so drop us an email. Email us at info@weneedahobby.com.
Q: What system are your ratings based on? A. Our ratings are done on a five star scale. Five being the best and half star (harry potter and the order of the phoenix) being the worst.
Q: What is a torrent? A. We cannot even begin to describe all of these things to you. Here is a great site that gives you all the information you might need to know about torrents and how they work.
