Jamie’s Elsewhere - Guidebook for Sinners Turned Saints (2008)

Always on the lookout for up and coming bands I ran across this one whose name struck me because my sisters name is Jamie and the title of the album is pretty sweet. It comes from each song telling it’s own story about life, regrets, love, hate, happiness and forgiveness. The band spent two years looking for the lineup that it has now including two brothers. The final addition was the vocalist because they wanted to have what they considered the perfect mix of singing and screaming. The name comes from an 80’s music club in Chicago that one of the band members fathers liked to talk about. Hailing from Sacramento California you can expect comparisons to Chiodos and the vocals remind me of the newest Saosin LP. This band did a full do it yourself tour and EP pressing for two years before being signed to Victory Records which I can dig. The album is a pretty decent scream-o album. It doesn’t offer anything new to the genre though which really kills its replay value for me but I’m sure plenty of you will dig it.
